The Bichapoo is a cross between a Toy Poodle and a Bichon Frise. The result is a small, happy, affectionate, and intelligent dog who makes a great family pet! Most Bichapoos are white or cream, due to the Bichon genetics, but they can also be any range of colors, depending on the genetic makeup of the Poodle.
Their small size and easy temperament make them an ideal choice for apartment living as well as a big family household. This breed is also known as Poochon, BichonPoo, and Bichon Poodle.
This small dog is highly trainable and eager to please. They are smart, don’t tend to be mouthy, and bark minimally.
Most Bichapoos have a lifespan of 12-15 years. They are predisposed to many of the same health conditions as the Toy Poodle and Bichon Frise but are less likely to develop these inherited diseases than their purebred counterparts.
Bichapoo coats are a combination of their Toy Poodle and Bichon Frise parents and are typically cream, tan, or apricot in color. They don’t shed, but require regular grooming to keep their coat healthy. They are also prone to tear stains around their eyes, so having a cloth or tissue on hand to dab at their eyes will help prevent staining.
This breed is high-energy and prone to weight gain, so it is important to include lots of play time and walking in their routine.
Most Bichapoo dogs stand at just 9-15” and weigh between 6-17 lbs.
